The Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA) is the trade association of independent producers and distributors of motion picture and television programming worldwide. Collectively, IFTA Members produce more than 500 independent films and countless hours of television programming each year.
The freedom for independents to create and distribute movies and television shows has been threatened by a handful of consolidated media companies that control programming and distribution. IFTA has created and launched www.fightforindependents.org to increase public awareness of the major issues facing independents like media consolidation and net neutrality.
The IFTA-produced American Film Market is the largest motion picture trade show in the world. Held annually in Santa Monica, the event brings together those companies that control films rights (sellers) and those that need films to distribute through theaters and other media in their home countries (buyers).
